Script: I am joining with millions of Americans urging you to make the Equal Rights Amendment the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. At a time when extremists are eroding women’s equality and LGBTQ rights, the ERA would affirm that every body is equal under the law. Please leave a legacy of equality and justice for future generations: instruct the U.S. Archivist to certify and publish the ERA today.
Background: The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was designed to guarantee women and people of other genders equal rights under the law. Although it was passed by Congress in 1972 and ratified by the required 38 states, its status is uncertain due to an unconstitutional ratification deadline, congressional failure, and legal debates. President Biden has expressed ERA support, but only he can instruct the U.S. Archivist to certify and publish the amendment into the U.S. Constitution. It is uncertain whether he will act, but we believe that if there is a chance, we must speak up together.

My message to Biden about the Equal Rights amendment included that my great grandmother was a suffrigett and would be disappointed that we had not come farther.
And what about a lawsuit regarding the difference in womens pay and how it should be included in SS. Women live longer and are having a difficult time surviving.
To my amazement I can no longer get to the White House email comment site which was https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ that I’ve been using for many years, through more than one president’s tenure. At age 80 I can’t figure out using the link you give us how to email my comment. Any help hugely apprecpiated.
Hi Susan, Thanks for sending this note. When we posted the action, the form on the White House website was working. However, during the first Trump administration, his staff disabled the form. We’ll look into it, but I suspect this might be a result of the incoming administration.
