A 6-part live class beginning Friday, October 16, 2026
Discover a New Path Toward Justice
Do you ever wonder why nothing changes, no matter how many protests you attend, calls you make, or petitions you sign?
You’ve spoken up. You’ve shown up. Yet this administration continues to disregard the rule of law, blast through checks and balances, and threaten us and those we care about.
Despite your best efforts, you may feel frustrated and powerless. You’re completely at a loss sometimes, wishing for a magic wand to wave and return things to normal.
But do we really want “back to normal”?
As much as we want the chaos and harm to stop, for many people—especially Black, brown, and Indigenous Americans—“normal” is injustice and inequality. Going back to the Obama era wouldn’t necessarily be just for all people.
That’s why we need a different way—a new way forward that brings the best of the past while innovating a future that benefits all.
Living Justice:
The Cycles of Socialization and Liberation
Living Justice gives you a map toward achieving justice. It shows you the terrain, how to navigate it, find your goals, and with whom you’ll share the journey. Once you know where you are on this map, your direction becomes crystal clear.
Living Justice introduces you to two fundamental frameworks created by Bobbie Harro—the Cycle of Socialization and the Cycle of Liberation—which model how power works and how people ultimately create change.
How you’ll benefit from Living Justice
You find clarity about why injustice persists and how liberation is created (and sustained). You’ll come away with a clear path forward to engage in social change and effective strategies for the journey.
You’re a good fit for Living Justice if…
- You’re someone who is already engaged in social change or have been in the past.
- You want to make more strategic and meaningful contributions to our nation and/or world.
- You want to apply tested principles to your life and experiment with them.
- You want to examine assumptions that may be limiting your impact.
- You are open to collaborating with others and participating in a community.

Your guide, Jen Hofmann, AoCC Founder and Director
I’m not just a leader or teacher, I’m a lifelong learner. Thanks to the skillful guidance of several women leaders of color, I’ve been studying and applying the concepts of Bobbie Harro’s Cycles since 2018. As a white woman, this work has helped me look honestly at how my upbringing and unconscious assumptions contribute to injustice, inspiring me to apply these insights to my work with hope and commitment. The Cycles offer concepts I return to again and again to ground myself in courage and vision.

Who’s going to be there?
“I am a former journalist who became one because of my belief that doing so would be a contribution to democracy. I’ve been out of the business since 2001 and carry with me the drive to be informed, but also the baggage of not engaging in advocacy — at least in the public sphere. So my objective (and hope) is that this series will help me begin exercising my underused advocacy muscles to be of greater use in supporting my community.” – S
“I’m looking forward to finding a community of others who are committed to the work and may, like me, feel the huge weight of it. I’m hoping the program will help me find clarity, but also courage and direction in my small place in this part of history.” – D
“I’m inspired to take your course because I think you have experience and valuable insights and I’m really, really afraid of the country’s rapid descent into fascism.” – S
“I have been doing what I can, writing, calling, and showing up at demonstrations. I wrote postcards and even decided to do a little canvassing here in [state] for our ongoing election. I’m a serious introvert, so this is big stuff for me. I am despairing at what is occurring in our country – I’m grieving! And I want to see the tyranny as making the crack that lets light in, to find a new and better way forward. The way you describe the content of this course, feels like an answer to prayer.” – S
“I am deeply concerned with the state of our country and frustrated with not seeing any substantial change in direction. Hoping to be re-energized and better equipped to be involved.” – D
“I see this group course as a way to keep myself grounded and focused, a way to surround myself with others who are working toward change, and an opportunity to learn how to bring others along in doing this work.” – S
“Everything on the invitation/sign-up page speaks to me: Zooming out and reframing the present moment in the context of historical movements; Spending time with likeminded learners; Unpacking my white woman perspectives; Supporting Jen Hofmann / AoCC. This work is so righteous and feels good to be a part of. Thank you for the sliding scale and offering the course for free as reparation. ✊” – Z
“I’m very involved in different levels of activism from hyper-local to national organizations. I feel that being part of this Living Justice learning community will give me perspective and patience – both of which I need right now.” – M
