“These times are urgent. Let us slow down.” – Bayo Akomolafe
So far this year, our team has verified myriad facts, read thousands of news articles, edited hundreds of actions, and responded to these times with heart. As each wave of sobering news hits, we continue showing up together because we believe democracy and dignity are worth defending.
Yet every August, the AoCC team does something radical: we take a four-week sabbatical to prevent burnout and refill our inner wells. As you’ll see below, we’ve accomplished a lot so far this year. Before we sign off, we have a request. Would you support our work?
Celebrating our 2025 accomplishments (so far!)

How to sustain our momentum
While the Checklist might look simple on the surface, results like these take time, talent, tenacity, and teamwork.
Unlike some publications, we will never paywall our content. We do not accept advertising dollars or sponsorships. This work is possible only because of the steady support of patrons and donors (BIG thanks if you are already one!). If you value our efforts, please help sustain them.
And now, we rest.
Rest is resistance. We will return in September renewed and ready. May this month offer you a breath, a pause, and a reminder that you’re not alone. Rest assured, we are in this together for the long haul.
With gratitude,
Jen Hofmann
