Happy New Year!
A New Year message from Jen Hofmann
2020 is an exciting year. In November, our nation gets to do more than elect a president.
After years of advocacy, we will find our whether our efforts to bolster basic democratic principles have worked. For example, will all people have access to the polls when it comes time to vote? Or will communities persist in silencing their most vulnerable voters – students, the working poor, disabled people? The integrity of our nation has been weakened by greed, but each of us can do something. Vote, yes. And also work so that others can vote.
On this New Year’s Day, we at Americans of Conscience Checklist are committed to actions our country needs today and tomorrow, as well as eleven months from now. Many people and communities are hurt by the current administration. AoCC shares how to support our neighbors and further to democracy and equality today.
Choose from two AoCC options this week
If you want to do something meaningful for your democracy this week, join us in advocating with and for our neighbors who are silenced at the polls. https://americansofconscience.com/empowering-voters/
If you want to do something extra kind, we’re wrapping up our Spread Light effort to highlight organizations doing important work for equality, immigration, and democracy. If you do one of the suggested actions, be sure to leave a comment (and join the over 80 people who have done so)! https://americansofconscience.com/spread-light-holiday-list-2019/
Wishing you a happy and fruitful new decade. We look forward to the year ahead with you!
Gratefully,
— Jen Hofmann and the AoCC team
I’m concerned that we did not get the AOC checklist last Sunday. Is everything okay? I have been with you almost from the start and look forward to the checklist and its suggestions for actions each week. I hope things are okay.
Hi! Sorry if you were worried. We took our own self-care advice and took the holiday weeks off, however we’ll be back on the normal publishing schedule this Sunday (January 12). Thanks for checking!
