This Week’s Actions
Action 1: Time-sensitive: Oppose devastating cuts to Medicaid for children and vulnerable Americans.
Thank you to the 437 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your two senators (call, write, or email).
Script: Hello, my name is _____ and I’m reaching out from [ZIP] to oppose the Senate’s budget reconciliation proposal which could cut $880 billion in Medicaid funding over ten years, penalizing states that provide health coverage to immigrants, and imposing work requirements that result in dropped coverage. Roughly 16 million people, including two in five children nationwide, would lose access to care by 2034. Please protect Medicaid and the health of the most vulnerable Americans.
Alternate: Contact your senators using the NAEH form to emphasize the impact of Medicaid cuts on people experiencing homelessness (uncheck the box to sign up for email updates).
Action 2: Stop unchecked military escalation.
Thank you to the 260 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your two senators and one House representative (call, write, or email)
Script: Hi, I’m a constituent from [ZIP] calling to say there are currently no grounds for congressional authorization for military action against Iran. I am asking Sen./Rep [NAME] to do two things: First, invoke the War Powers Resolution which affirms that only Congress can declare war. Second, advance and pass the bipartisan War Powers Resolution, H.Con.Res. 38/S.J.Res. 59, to preserve crucial checks and balances between the executive and legislative branches of government. Thank you.

Action 3: Support people seeking refuge.
Thank you to the 60 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
More than 123 million people worldwide have been forced to flee conflict, violence, and persecution, including 49 million children. USCRI works to defend the rights of all people seeking safety abroad and advocate for lasting solutions, including unaccompanied children migrating to the U.S. In honor of World Refugee Day (June 20), consider supporting their work.
Donate: To USCRI in solidarity with those displaced from their homes.
Action 4: Protect due process and the integrity of immigration courts.
Thank you to the 230 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your two senators and one House representative (call, write, or email).
Script: Hello, my name is _____ and I’m reaching out from [ZIP] because I’m disgusted by the coordinated arrests at immigration courts in violation of due process. Recent collaboration between ICE and courts highlights the need for independent courts that prioritize immigrants’ rights instead of discriminatory agendas. I’m urging [Sen./Rep. NAME] to halt immigration enforcement activities in and around court facilities, investigate interagency abuse, and call for the creation of an independent Article 1 immigration court system.
Bonus: Use the AILA tool to personalize a message calling on Congress to act (you may be subscribed to mailing lists).

Action 5: Ensure vital reporting of corporate climate damage.
Thank you to the 143 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
The Environmental Protection Agency proposes repealing reporting requirements for greenhouse gas emissions by large industrial facilities and rolling back limits on permissible soot and mercury produced by the country’s dirtiest coal plants. Without these reports, the federal government will lack necessary data to measure and limit sources of pollution heating the planet.
Submit a comment: Oppose these harmful rule changes before August 4th through regulations.gov referencing Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2004-0489. All comments received will be included in the public docket including personal information if provided.

Action 6: Protect the right to vote.
Thank you to the 158 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
The SAVE Act was passed by the House of Representatives on April 10, and will next be considered in the Senate.
Contact: Your two senators (call, write, or email).
Script: Hi, my name is _____ from [ZIP], asking you to oppose H.R. 22, the SAVE Act, which would enact broad purges of voter rolls and force voters to prove their citizenship when registering. It could silence millions of voters, including married women, students, trans people, Native Americans, and naturalized citizens, and would end online and mail-in voting for active duty military and citizens abroad. I am asking Sen. [NAME] to vote “NO” vote on the unnecessary SAVE Act and use procedural tools like the filibuster to block this harmful voter suppression bill. Thank you.

Action 7: Demand consultation with tribal leaders regarding themed mascots.
Thank you to the 36 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Write: Linda McMahon, Secretary
U.S. Department of Education
400 Maryland Avenue, SW
Washington, D.C. 20202
Script: Hello, my name is _____ from [STATE]. In solidarity with Indigenous communities, I’m urging you to consult directly with elected leaders of Tribal Nations when making decisions or issuing statements on matters of importance to Native communities. This includes the use of unsanctioned “Native-themed” mascots and symbols that perpetuate degrading and dehumanizing stereotypes. Please affirm the sovereign right of Tribal Nations to actively participate in the education of their students by supporting decision-making authority at the local level.
Action 8: Get ready for the 2025 Elections.
Thank you to the 130 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Ensure that you are ready to vote for the over 100,000 seats up for election in 2025, including governors, municipal governments, school boards, and more.
- Confirm that your voter registration is still valid (or register to vote for the first time by your state’s deadline).
- Update your address or re-register if you’ve recently moved.
- Make a plan to vote by mail or in person, whether early or on Election Day.
- Find out who and what is on your ballot.
- Ask two friends to register to vote or to verify their registrations. Studies show that people are more likely to vote if they are encouraged by someone they know.

Action 9: Prepare for electronic device searches when entering the U.S..
Thank you to the 54 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
As summer travel ramps up, it’s important to know that U.S. customs officials are increasingly searching travelers’ electronic devices at border crossings and airports. While U.S. citizens have the right to refuse such a search and cannot be barred from re-entering the country, their devices can still be confiscated. Non-citizens can be denied entry for refusing a request to search their devices.
Take action:
- Visit these sources to know your rights at the border and be prepared by:
- Putting a password on your phone (don’t rely on FaceID or TouchID).
- Keeping your data in the cloud and off your device.
- Making sure anything you delete is also removed from your deleted folder.
- Being mindful when posting to your social media and other public profiles.
