Action 2: Urge lawmakers to affirm a child’s right to an education, regardless of immigration status.

Thank you to the 92 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!

Contact: Your two state legislators (look up).

Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP]. I oppose the Heritage Foundation’s push for legislation to undermine the 44-year-old Plyler v. Doe Supreme Courtruling that protects a child’s access to public education, regardless of immigration status. Since 2025, several states have introduced legislation designed to challenge Plyler. The House Judiciary Subcommittee recently held a hearing in which Republican lawmakers advocated for overturning Plyler. All students deserve access to quality education that promises a brighter future. Please oppose any efforts to deny a child’s right to free and public education.

Bonus: Use the script above to contact your two senators and one House representative (call, write, or email).

Action 3: Demand that Congress immediately end the detention of children.

Thank you to the 126 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!

Contact: Your two senators and one House representative (call, write, or email).

Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], and I oppose the detention of unaccompanied children on moral grounds. The administration’s recent policy changes have resulted in prolonged stays in federal custody, prevented reunification with loving caretakers, and forced children to attend court hearings without legal representation. Unaccompanied children are at much greater risk for abuse. Please work to end the detention of unaccompanied children, ensure safe, timely release to vetted sponsors, and protect meaningful access to full legal counsel.

Alternate: Take action via KIND’s congressional contact form.

Action 4: Participate in a national day of solidarity on May 1.

Thank you to the 54 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!

May 1 is a national day of solidarity following the largest single-day protest in American history (the No Kings 3 protests on March 28, 2026). Events are planned nationwide, but you can participate by following the organizers’ call for “no work, no school, no shopping” to support “workers over billionaires.”

Bonus: Donate to Union Now, a nationwide fund to support striking workers in all industries.

Action 5: Protect communities from emissions that pollute the air.

Thank you to the 80 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!

Contact: Your two senators (call, write, or email).

Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], writing to oppose two bills that weaken the Clean Air Act at a time when air quality and pollution are worsening, with disproportionate impacts on communities of color. Please vote “NO” on the FENCES Act (H.R. 6409), which allows polluters to use foreign emissions to avoid accountability, and the RED Tape Act (H.R. 6398), which removes requirements for EPA review of certain federal projects. Stop enriching industry at Americans’ expense.

Bonus: Contact your one House representative (call, write, or email) to oppose the Fire Improvement and Reforming Exceptional Events (FIRE) Act (H.R. 6387), which excludes air quality data, enabling polluters to abuse the decision-making process.

Action 6: Oppose voter suppression legislation in your state.

Thank you to the 22 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!

If you live in MD, MI, MO, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, or VT, your state has introduced legislation that would implement some of the harmful voter-suppression measures from the not-yet-passed federal SAVE America Act. Find the bill number(s) in this tracker and contact your two state legislators (look up).

Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], asking you to protect all of [STATE]’s voters from voter suppression. [BILL # FROM TRACKER] would impose costly burdens on eligible voters by requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. Can I count on your opposition to this harmful legislation? Thank you.

If you live elsewhere, donate to the Voting Rights Lab to support their nonpartisan legislation tracker and voting-rights advocacy.

Action 7: Oppose again the anti-voter, anti-voting “SAVE America” Act.

Thank you to the 72 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!

In the past 10 weeks, 1,209 AoCC subscribers opposed this discriminatory bill together. It has already passed in the House.

Contact: Your two senators (call, write, or email).

Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], asking you to oppose the SAVE America Act (S. 1383), which passed the House on Feb. 11. This bill would prevent millions of married women who have changed their names from registering and voting. It would affect the roughly 170 million Americans without a passport and the 9% of the population that moved in the last year and negatively impact domestic abuse survivors. It would allow recurring purges of voter rolls, end mail voting nationwide, and burden voters to prove their citizenship when registering and show photo ID when voting. I am asking you to block this bill using procedural tools like the filibuster and to vote “NO” if this harmful voter suppression bill comes up for a vote. Thank you.

Action 8: Reject antisemitism and hate.

Thank you to the 49 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!

Contact: Your two senators (call, write, or email).

Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], asking you to support a resolution (S.Res. 533) condemning white supremacy, hate, and antisemitism, and efforts to give a platform to these dangerous ideologies. With deadly antisemitic attacks on the rise worldwide and racist rhetoric fueling new ones, it has never been more important to reject hatred and affirm our democratic values. Please help protect the safety and dignity of all our communities by supporting this resolution.

Alternate: Use the JCPA letter to urge your senators’ support (uncheck “Yes, sign me up for email updates”).
