This Week’s Actions
Action 1: Demand that Congress immediately end the detention of children.
Thank you to the 222 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your two senators and one House representative (call, write, or email).
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], expressing my horror over the detention of unaccompanied children. The administration’s recent policy changes have resulted in prolonged stays in federal custody, prevented reunification with loving caretakers, and forced children to attend court hearings without legal representation. Unaccompanied children are at much greater risk for abuse. Please work to end the detention of unaccompanied children, ensure safe, timely release to vetted sponsors, and protect meaningful access to full legal counsel.
Alternate: Send additional messages of support using KIND’s congressional contact form.

Action 2: Restrict local law enforcement from collaborating with ICE.
Thank you to the 103 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your governor (look up) and two state legislators (look up).
Script for New Yorkers: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], expressing my support for the New York for All Act (S02235B/A03506B). Given numerous human rights violations, including the recent homicide of Rohingya refugee Nurul Amin Shah Alam, it is vital that we restrict local law enforcement from aiding in the administration’s cruel agenda. Please support the passage of this law to prohibit police officers, peace officers, school resource officers, and others from cooperating with ICE.
Script for residents of other states: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], expressing my support for policies and legislation prohibiting local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE. Numerous human rights violations, including the recent homicide of Rohingya refugee Nurul Amin Shah Alam make it crucial we resist the administration’s cruel agenda. Many states are pushing back against the administration’s attempts to recruit local officers to aid ICE. Please do everything in your power to prohibit our local officers from cooperating with ICE.

Action 3: Urge your House representative to support the U.S. Farmworker Protection Act.
Thank you to the 141 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your House representative (call, write, or email).
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], and I’m worried about the misuse of the H-2A program. The administration has decreased wages for workers hired under the program and allowed uncapped growth. These changes threaten the jobs of local workers and increase the likelihood of human rights abuses of guest workers. Please champion the U.S. Farmworker Protection Act (H.R. 7541), which will cap the number of H-2A visas at 400,000 annually, helping to protect local jobs and curb human rights violations.
Alternate: Use the United Farm Workers’ form to voice your support of H.R. 7541.

Action 4: Remove a president who is unfit to serve.
Thank you to the 149 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your one House representative (call, write, or email).
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], asking you to impeach the president, a bipartisan action supported by a majority of Americans. Your oath of office requires you to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign or domestic. Please pass H.Res.1155 to impeach, and call on Cabinet members to invoke Article IV of the 25th Amendment to remove a president who continues to call for war crimes. Thank you.
Bonus: Contact your two senators (call, write, or email) and demand that they vote to limit the president’s power over military operations in Iran next week.

Action 5: Strengthen bans of federal troops at polling places.
Thank you to the 83 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your two state legislators (look up).
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], asking you to follow New Mexico’s lead by introducing and passing legislation that bans federal troops from being deployed at polling places. If state laws are passed to mirror federal laws, then states will be able to hold federal forces accountable even if the U.S. Department of Justice refuses to uphold existing federal law. Thank you.

Action 6: Protect lawfully resettled Southeast Asian refugees from deportation.
Thank you to the 90 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your two senators and one House representative (call, write, or email).
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], and I’m concerned about Southeast Asian communities that were resettled following devastating U.S. military intervention in their homelands being targeted for deportation. The Southeast Asian Deportation Relief Act, (H.R. 7608) would permanently protect families that have endured decades of trauma by halting deportation of refugees who arrived before 2008, and includes a host of other critical protections from ICE misconduct. Please seize this chance to right generations of harm by supporting this long-overdue bill.
Alternate: Use the Stop AAPI Hate Form to voice your support. (Uncheck “Receive email updates.”)

Action 7: Prevent oil and gas drilling that endangers marine life.
Thank you to the 102 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your two senators and one House representative (call, write, or email).
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], and I’m outraged by the decision to exempt oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico from the Endangered Species Act. Authorized by a rarely invoked committee on the pretense of national security, this exemption could doom a rare whale species, harm other marine life, and threaten Gulf state economies that rely on tourism. Please speak out now against this outrageous end run around critical protections for marine wildlife.
Alternate: Use the NRDC letter to contact your members of Congress and voice your opposition.

Action 8: Resist illegal federalization of elections.
Thank you to the 58 Americans of Conscience who completed this action!
Contact: Your state’s governor and secretary of state.
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], asking you to publicly affirm that the president’s March 31 executive order is illegal and unconstitutional. The EO orders the creation of a federal list of eligible voters, a task that is not only logistically impossible but that usurps the constitutional authority granted to states to conduct elections, and has been met with bipartisan opposition. Please assure [STATE]’s voters that you will not comply with this order. Thank you.
